Montenegro: A Jewel

May 9, 2016

For several years my yearning to travel to this gorgeous country has been immense. An image put in my head of glistening waters surrounded by Mediterranean towns had remained untouched until I actually visited. I can say with utmost confidence it was more than I had hoped for and imagined.

Making Porto Montenegro in Tivat a base, we traveled through this wonderful and small country to experience true pleasure. Enough days could not be spent here.

A marina filled with spectacular yachts sprinkled on glistening seas already starts a day in bliss. The promenade an extremely chic stretch is lined with all the best boutiques and brands of the world. True delight is felt when you rent a boat for the day and submerse yourself in cool waters and travel to island churches and towns with names like Kotor and ancient towns like sveti stefan.

Unexplored and mostly untouched Montenegro had stolen a young girls heart through photographs but when she visited, she left her heart there. Nature overtook her.

The Regent Porto Montenegro : wonderful hotel with friendly staff, a fabulous pool and large rooms and great location. What else could one ask for.

The Aman Sveti Stefan: A historic settlement well preserved and the entire island has been converted to the Aman resort.

De gustibus : A sea food restaurant but the chef is so talented he made us one of our most memorable meals.

If you want to have the best pizzas in Montenegro Al Posto Giusto is the place to go. Its young and lively and so so chic.

Right next to Al Posto Giusto, is Byblos. Go here for lebanese food and sheesha. Good for a late dinner with the family as you take in the mild weather of Montenegro's springtime.

Porto Montenegro Yacht Club is a must visit to laze in an exceptionally long infinity pool and slurp through endless cocktails.

Mostly untouched by large brands, the promenade has all the luxury brands in small boutiques. However don't be fooled by the 22 percent tax return. You will have to re-visit Montenegro within 6 months to claim it. If I were able, I surely would.

Curiosities :

Strolling through the small waterside towns you will see small shops with very colorful handmade items that bring the happiness and carefree life to your homes. As you may see in our inspired hamper . A box full of glee and family and coming together.
